Johnny Mnemonic

THE MACHINE

About Johnny Mnemonic

Plug into the matrix with Johnny Mnemonic, a high-speed cyberpunk thriller designed by George Gomez. Based on the 1995 Keanu Reeves film, this machine is legendary among enthusiasts on Pinside and Tilt Forums for being one of the fastest, highest-scoring games ever built.

The standout feature is the interactive magnetic glove, a player-controlled hand that snatches the ball mid-air, allowing you to physically place it into the ‘Cyber Matrix’ grid to start up massive 3x Jackpots. With its ultra-smooth ramps and lightning fast loops, the gameplay mirrors the frantic pace of a data-courier on the run. Advanced players can strive for the unique Power Down wizard mode, where the machine systems shut down section by section, challenging you to keep the data flowing before the lights go out.

Why Play It?

It’s a ‘marksman’s dream’ that rewards precision and speed. Whether you’re hacking the matrix or racking up billions on the spinner, Johnny Mnemonic offers a pure, adrenaline-fueled 90s experience.

Come test your skills and see if you’re brave enough to survive the data-war and become the ultimate cyberpunk!

Rules

You can find the pinball machine rulesheet at this link:  https://pinball.org/rules/johnnymnemonic.html

You can find a summary of the rules below.

Main Objectives:

> Become the Cyberpunk: The ultimate long-term goal is to collect Gigabytes (GB)  through various modes and shots. Reaching high GB counts increases your end-of-ball bonuses significantly.

> Navigate the 5 Modes: You must start and play through five distinct modes (Upload, Access Code, Riot, Download and N.A.S Cure) to qualify for the Power Down wizard mode.

> Survive Power Down: In the final challenge, you must manage a 4 ball multiball while parts of the playfield literally goes dark (power down). Collecting ‘Power Items’ beforehand buys you more time in this mode.

Key Mechanics:

> The Data Glove & Matrix: A magnetic crane picks up the ball. You manually move the glove to drop the ball into a 3×3 Matric grid.

> Matrix Awards: Each hole in the grid awards a specific bonus (e.g. extra ball, 50 GB or Mystery).

> Triple Jackpots: Completing a Tic-Tac-Toe line (3 balls in a row) in the Matrix triples all Jackpot values during Multiball.

> Yakuza Strikes: Complete the 3 red triangles on both the left and right ramps to start a high-value countdown ‘Hurry-up’ on all major shots.

> Throwing Spikes: Rolling through the left inlane briefly lights the right ramp/orbit for a ladder of rewards, including Spinner Millions and Quick Multiball.

> Mnemonic Recovery: The left-lane kickback is relit by hitting the right-side stand-up target twice.

> Power Down: After playing all 5 modes, the wizard mode begins where playfield lights physically turn off section by section as you play.
