Gentlemen, start your engines! Indianapolis 500 is a high-octane masterpiece from the peak of the Williams/Bally era. Designed by Dennis Nordman, this machine is a fan-favourite on Pinside and Tilt Forums, renowned for its incredible speed, circular flow, and authentic racing atmosphere that captures the intensity of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.

With real race commentary and the roar of the engines, its a sensory experience that rewards precision shot-making. Whether you’re aiming for the Victory Lane or fighting for the Checkered Flag, every flip is a sprint to the finish.

Rules

You can find the pinball machine rulesheet at this link:  https://pinball.org/rules/indianapolis500.html#Rules

You can find a summary of the rules below.

Main Objectives:

> Advance your Position: The ultimate goal is to move from the back of the pack to 1st place to win the race. You advance position by making passes (shooting orbits and ramps).

> Complete 200 Laps: Completing laps is the primary way to light the Victory Lap wizard mode. Laps are awarded by shooting ramps and orbits, with the ‘Turbo’ building up lap counts quickly.

> Collect Speedway Awards: There are 11 different Speedway Awards (modes) to collect. Activating all of them lights the Checkered Flag.

Key Mechanics:

> The Turbo: Shooting the ball into the Turbo when ‘Lock’ is lit holds the ball and then fires it back out at high speeds. Locking two balls in the Turbo starts a 3-ball Multiball. Jackpots are secured by hitting the alternative lit ramps.

> Speedaway Awards: Activated by shooting the Right Loop or the centre hole when ‘Start Race’ is lit. Awards include Turbo Boost (2-ball multiball), Super Jets, and Change Setup. You can cycle which award if flashing by hitting the Speed Ramp.

> Passes: The left orbit of the ‘Orange Car’ shot. Shooting it awards a Pass, moving you up one position in the race.

> Souvenirs: Completing the I-N-D-Y rollover lanes lights ‘Souvenir’ at the left ramp. Souvenirs are random perks that can help your score, increase your bonus multiplier or assist in modes.

> The Spanner Targets: Completing these targets lights specific bonuses or multipliers related to your ‘Pit Crew’.

> Victory Lap: Once you complete 200 laps, the ‘Victory Lap’ is lit at the ramps. This is a high-scoring frenzy mode where every major shot awards millions.
